Week 2

It has been a very interesting week for me with the website going live. First of all thank you to everyone who has taken the time to look at the site, I hope there is plenty of information for you. If you do want anything adding remember to email me.

I had to go for my annual optician appointment this week, which involved an eye exam and the retinotherapy photos. I had been getting very bad headaches and with being pregnant have not been able to take anything except paracetamol so having the drops in my eyes didn’t do my any favours. I ended up in bed in the afternoon, my advice is do not have this done if you already have a headache!!! The worse thing is because I am pregnant I need to go again in 10 weeks – joy! With regards to the headache I have found a cold flannel on my forehead and neck has relieved this slightly.

You may have noticed on the news a new drug for type 2 diabetics. Liraglutide is suitable for once daily dosing as opposed to Exenatide’s, or how it is more commonly known by its brand name, Byetta, twice daily.

A friend of mine has been one of the first to get this drug in England and has now been using Victoza (brand name) for two weeks. The first week he felt fine mainly due to the fact he was on half a dose. The second week has been harder on the full dose and he has been very nauseous. However the main benefit has been felt that his blood sugar levels are down for 16 to 9, which if this tend continues the long term outlook for his health is a lot more positive.

Until next time x
