Some Healthy living habits that can reduce chances of Developing Diabetes
You can control your diabetes or even prevent it (in certain cases of type 2) from happening by following healthy living habits. Once you have a healthy lifestyle then you reduce your diabetes (type 2) risk by as much as 80%. Diabetes is a major problem with the middle age group which is more prone to it than the younger generation and hence they should be more concerned with their living habits so as to stay away from the clutches of diabetes or if they already have it, then to keep it at bay.
1. Regular exercise.
Doing regular exercise can help you save yourself from diabetes. In today’s world you can’t have a slow life, life today is fast track and you have to make the best use of all the time that you have with you. Living a life by being physically active, whether it is in your job profile or in the gym, can make you physically tougher and less prone to diseases like diabetes. If you have a fit body and are not overweight, your diabetes risk is significantly reduced. The healthier life style you follow, the less you are at risk.
2. Take fresh fruits.
Your food also is a major contributor in having a diabetes free life. If you take sugar filled and oily food or always prefer to have fast food, that is less on nutrition levels and more on empty calories, you are more at risk in getting diabetes than you would normally be, had you been eating more healthy, less cooked and natural food. In taking fresh fruits in your diet regularly improves your chance of preventing diabetes. These fresh fruits serve as natural sources that not just rejuvenate your body but also make you feel healthier and younger.
3. Control over drinking and smoking habit.
Having control over your drinking habit and smoking can also allow you to have a better and healthier lifestyle. If you are a regular drinker, and smoke regularly then the chances of you becoming diabetic in the future are increased by an astounding 80%. No one yet knows the exact relation between alcohol intake and smoking with you getting diabetic but none the less, it happens more to those who smoke and drink than those who do not or are social drinkers and do not consume alcohol regularly.
4. Opt for Yoga.
Regular exercising like walking and jogging can do you a lot of good. If you can get a good Yoga guru in your vicinity then it is perhaps the best way to control diabetes. More so ever an active lifestyle would ensure that you stay fit. Having an active lifestyle reduces your risk of diabetes by quite an extent, by some recent surveys it has been found to reduce the risk in developing diabetes by 39% in women and 31% in men.
5. Eat good and nutritious food.
To remain free from diabetes, you must not only inculcate the healthy habit of exercising regularly and eating good and nutritious food, but also do away with habits like eating junk food and drinking alcohol and smoking regularly. It may be a little difficult to change your lifestyle and living habits initially, but what needs to be done, has to be done if you wish to have a life free from diabetes.
