Some Positive News from the Budget

I know most of you may not be inpressed with the Budget this week, however there was some goods news regarding health funding.

An extra £100 million of capital funding will be given to science institutions, and investments will be made in order to encourage key players in the life sciences sector to establish small and medium enterprises in Britain. The growth strategy that has been published alongside the budget outlines plans to follow recommendations from the Academy of Medical Sciences’ to improve the way that health research is regulated in the UK. A new single Health Research Agency will be set up, which will work to streamline the process. In 2009, £51 million was spent by the government on diabetes research, so hopefully this increase in funding will help us all in the future.
